A Valentine’s Day Evening to Remember
February 14th, I spent my Valentine’s Day evening on a Saturday night with SZN4 and it was quite the spirit lifter. On a “holiday” that’s particularly not my favorite, you could feel the love emulating off of the group from the love they have for each other as well as the people supporting them in the crowd.
A Hometown Hero - Local Opener
The Detroit show went off without a hitch as the night started with a very fun, electric, and nostalgic DJ set put together and produced by Detroit-based, local DJ, Kid McFly with iconic remixes of songs including Tipsy by Shaboozey, Umbrella by Rihanna, We Can’t Stop & Party in the USA both by Miley Cyrus, Complicated by Avril Lavigne, Apple Bottom Jeans, and more iconic tunes, even getting to dance to the Cupid Shuffle, it really got the crowd going and excited for the show.

Small Venue, Big Stakes
SZN4 came out and they did not come to play. They didn’t just show up, they showed out. Dressed in matching navy pinstriped sets, the group wore their pinstripes in what felt like was custom to their fitted styles. SZN4’s performance left the crowd buzzing as we all left the venue at the end of the night. The live performance felt very much like a blend of Little Mix and Pentatonix.

There was that sense of belonging that made you feel like you were a part of the show, whether the band was interacting with the crowd or having everyone in the audience learn the lyrics to sing back to them. It was so comforting that they could create an environment with music that feels like a place you could maybe call home. They truly have a community that feels safe and welcoming. SZN4 brought the energy to the stage with their impeccable stage presence that was bigger than the stage/venue and brighter than the lighting. They really turned up the vibes and raised the stakes for small venue performances, small choreography, amazing vocals, and all. The energy felt palpably from the front of the room, all the way to the back, creating an intimate yet arena-level experience.
The Verdict
If there’s ever a chance that SZN4 comes to Detroit again, there wouldn’t be a doubt that I would see their show again, even through my camera lens and post editing photos, you can feel their energy beaming through the screen.
