The artist known as supermodel* has released “adidas”, a genre blending track written and co-produced by Frankie Beanie also known as supermodel* himself. The pop infused tune is accompanied by a simple music video that perfectly aligns with supermodel*’s previous ones in which visually, he is the center.

The more we listened to it, the more we liked it

While some of his other songs like “cherry garcia” are easier to grasp at a first listen, there is something about “adidas” that remains memorable. Towards the middle of the track the blending of sounds initially caught us off guard but it didn’t turn us away. In just under 2 minutes, supermodel* managed to make a track that showcases his own artistry. The more we listened to it, the more we felt the vibe and its charisma coat our ears. It became a track that we understood and enjoyed. His voice allowed us to, like the song says, “just to let go”.

A vision and direction that is impressive

Visually, supermodel*’s music videos are simple and budget conscious but with a vision and direction that is impressive. He tends to include himself dancing in his videos and/or either singing directly to the camera. It is no surprise to see the credits of his videos and find that they were directed by supermodel* himself. For the “adidas” music video, the camera follows him from the subway station where he sits seemingly bummed out to the train where he is loosely dancing. It is simple but the change in mood aligns perfectly with his change in scenery, starting off sad or depressed while sitting on a dirty floor surrounded by stained walls to his mood picking up, dancing more intensely and ending up in a pristine subway train.

Overall, “adidas” is a catchy tune that can stand on its own or can inspire some remixes. Beanie seems to experiment with his music but at the same time has a clear direction of who supermodel* is. We look forward to seeing his creativity grow musically and visually.
