Songwriter Spotlight: Jessie Jo Dillon - Dominating Country Music



Jessie Jo Dillon has credits in the songs of some of today’s most beloved country superstars, including Kelsea Ballerini, Dan + Shay, and Jelly Roll, to name a few.

Jessie Jo Dillon isn’t just the daughter of a country star and a record label executive; she has carved out her own space in Nashville as a songwriter. Her extensive discography has led her to write for, and with, an endless list of household country names. Dominating country music can’t be easy, but Jessie certainly has a way with words that create fan favorite songs.



Collaborating with Big Names


There may be a secret to her success, but it could also be years of consistency, hard work, and many, many collaborations. A very popular song that Dillon co - wrote is Dan + Shay’s “10,000 Hours,” which had a Justin Bieber feature and won a Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Jessie Jo co - wrote Old Dominion’s “Memory Lane,” which was a lead single and shares the same name as their 5th studio album. Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Jelly Roll, and Megan Moroney are only a few names on her long list of collaborators. Her impressive body of work has led her name to be a Nashville favorite.

It is because of her extensive resume in Country Music that Jessie Jo Dillon was nominated for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical at the Grammy Awards for 3 consecutive years. She has also won in the category Songwriter of the Year at the CMA Awards. The true recognition of her work and talent lies within the words her collaborators use when speaking about her. She receives praise and warmth from artists such as Kelsea Ballerini, Karen Fairchild, and more. Keith Urban performed “Messed Up As Me” to honor Jessie during the 17th ACM Honors. 


The best thing about songwriters being recognized by their peers, the fans, and the music industry is that their names continue to get cemented within history. There is much to look forward to from Jessie Jo Dillon, and we can’t be happier to keep up with her already massive success.
