I.D.K. is the third, in a string of singles, released by Pretty Pity in 2026.
Hailing from Tampa, FL, the self-proclaimed sun-soaked alternative pop rock chameleons live up to their name with their latest single. With the voice of a seacoast siren, vocalist Tani Jade melodically bottles the feeling of wanting affection without attachment. Of giving the people around you just enough to get hooked, but never enough to truly know you. Getting lost in a fleeting moment with a stranger you know will never stay.
“I don’t know, I don’t know what you’re talking about. But I think I like it.”
The song begins with Jade singing a cappella just before the drum beat crashes in. Almost like she’s been wandering aimlessly before suddenly being pulled into a busy bar, ready to lean into the night.
As the tempo shifts, the chaos briefly settles. It is as if she has found someone who quiets the rush in her head. The spotlight is just on them in the crowded room. The world around them swirls into a blur and fades away. And before this person can say anything to ruin the moment or make it too real, she shuts them up.
“I wanna bite your tongue. ‘Fore you say something stupid. Lies feed me lies so dumb. I just might believe it.”
The lyrics reveal the push and pull at the heart of the song. The chemistry is temporary, but that is precisely what makes it appealing.
“Turn me on, oh, anyone can. Fuck me up, if I get love drunk I’ll get stuck, can’t find the right way out.”
Fist-pumping guitar riffs pair with melodic, soaring yet punchy vocals to create a song you won’t be able to resist singing along to. The chorus practically begs to be shouted back from a crowded venue.
I.D.K. sounds like several gin and tonics. Neon lights. Losing yourself on the dance floor. Finding connection in unexpected places. The kind of chemistry that’s best left unexplained.
“Bright pretty lights in the corner of the room leaving me to lose it So put your money where your mouth is. Give me something to forget.”
With I.D.K., Pretty Pity captures the feeling of a person just wanting to let go and shed all inhibitions with a stranger. The temptation to stay in a perfect moment before reality has the chance to complicate it. A song about craving connection while resisting anything real. And with its dark drum beat, intoxicating riffs, and swoon-worthy punk-pop-infused vocals, it’s easy for the listener to get swept up in the fantasy.
