Twenty-five years later, blink-182 gives the album that defined a generation of skaters, slackers, and screen-staring kids the vault treatment.

Blink-182, one of the quintessential Pop-Punk and Punk Rock skate bands, has been celebrated for years. After a hiatus, with an incredible return and their comeback album, One More Time, blink-182 is celebrating their legacy with Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, a 25th-anniversary release featuring six vault tracks.

Guys at the Rock Show

The lasting impact of Take Off Your Pants and Jacket can be felt through the cultural fabric of Pop-Punk and the Millennial experience. The album was a hit, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and going double platinum by May 2002,  ushering in the new youth culture of the early internet and skateboarding, and featuring cultural touchstones in their music videos, such as Steve-O. Blink-182’s writing on Take Off Your Pants and Jacket featured their most vulnerable work, meditating on anxiety, aging, divorce, and youth culture.

With the band's underlying silliness making them a fixture of the late 1990s and ’00s, their staying power has been confirmed by Rolling Stone's placing blink-182 at No. 2 on its list of “50 Greatest Pop-Punk Albums of All Time”. In addition to the critical acclaim it has received over the years, it remains a favorite album amongst millennials. With tracks from the album appearing in multiple movies and television shows, one of the greatest uses of “Anthem Part Two” is in the 2006 gymnastics film Stick It, during the final competition, where the song embodies the transformation and youthful rebellion of the teenage gymnasts.

Color Coordinated

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket was released on June, 12 2001, with the bonus tracks split between variations of the album, corresponding to the icons on the album cover: red airplane, yellow pants, and green jacket, with each album containing three of the vault tracks featured on the anniversary album.
