Blake Mills has traveled around due to his music career, but he began that journey in California, where he was born and raised. His journey began at a young age, when he formed a band with Taylor Goldsmith, which lasted a few years before he continued his own journey in music. Mills began touring as a guitarist for several artists, including Julian Casablancas and Band of Horses, before beginning his producing journey.
Working with Legends
Mills’ work in music led him to collaborate with artists such as Pink, Lana Del Rey, Fiona Apple, Ed Sheeran, and many more. His approach to music and collaborative history makes his story a fascinating one to follow. The number of artists from varying genres that he has toured with or worked with as a songwriter, producer, session musician, or engineer is what many dream about. He worked with beloved artists such as The Killers, Dixie Chicks, Norah Jones, Phoebe Bridgers, and Bob Dylan.
Throughout his career, Mills has obtained many Grammy nominations and won 2 of those. At the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, he received a Grammy for his work with Alabama Shakes on their project ‘Sound & Color,' in the category of Best Alternative Music Album. His 2nd win was during the 68th Annual Grammy Awards for his and Pino Palladino’s album ‘That Wasn’t A Dream’ in the category Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
