Influenced by Cassette Tapes
It happens often that incredibly successful musicians were introduced to music at an early age, for Benny it was as early as 6 years old by cassette tapes that contained music by Nas and All-4-One. Benny Blanco spent his childhood at the center of music settings, sometimes commuting between Virginia and New York, which eventually led him to his career as a producer. Before he became a household name himself he worked under a big name producer and partook in some of the biggest hits at that time.
While under a mentorship, Benny Blanco received credits for producing and writing in some of pop culture’s biggest songs such as Kesha’s “Tik Tok” and Katy Perry’s “California Girls”. He eventually continued on his own path and worked on songs like Maroon 5’s “Payphone” featuring Wiz Khalifa and “Moves Like Jagger” featuring Christina Aguilera, both of which had heavy radio play. To think it all began with cassette tapes and the decision to start learning how to make beats.
Collaborations with The Biggest Artists & Personal Projects
As of today, Benny Blanco has produced (and also written) for some of the biggest artists including Halsey, Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande and SZA just to name a few. Through the many collaborations, Blanco has received 11 Grammy Award nominations. Memorable songs that Benny has partook in are “Señorita” by Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran and “Circus” by Britney Spears.
Benny Blanco has spent time in the business side of the music industry through different record label endeavors but he has also taken the plunge into releasing music under his name, as an artist. He brought his artistic vision to life with projects such as ‘Friends Keep Secrets’ and ‘I Said I Love You First…’ in collaboration with wife Selena Gomez. Now, he gets to present himself as an artist just like he wanted when he was younger.
Even though Benny Blanco has almost 2 decades of hits and experience in the music industry, he still has a long career ahead of him. We are excited to see how he continues accumulating hit songs and big name collaborators. Benny is always open during interviews about his work thus leaving bits of knowledge and stories for future producers.
