Lebra Jolie is Better Than Yesterday: Houston Rapper Gets Personal

Houston rap star, Lebra Jolie, prepares for a new album, Better Than Yesterday, through Interscope Records. In the meantime, Jolie released “Whole Thang” with an accompanying music video featuring iconic visuals, and a “Better Than Yesterday” docuseries, in which she digs into the creation of the album's inspiration and her history as an artist.

Lebra Jolie Let’s Us In

In 2022, Jolie released her hit single, “Spring, Summer,” and earned a spot on Pitchfork’s “The Ones” chart. Lebra Jolie has been rising in the rap scene, bringing her best to the new era of rap with millennial flair and a fresh perspective. In 2026, Jolie’s Better Than Yesterday is her most personal work yet, chronicling her journey from living in shelters to singing with Interscope Records. In her docuseries, she continues to detail this journey, allowing the audience to take a step into her world and discover the life of Lebra Jolie.

The Whole Thang Docu-Series

The three-part docu-series features an interview between Jolie and herself, in which she answers questions about the creation of Better Than Yesterday and her life leading up to becoming an artist. Jolie sat down with Soundcheck to talk about her series, saying that while the series didn’t necessarily give her work new meaning, retracing her steps was therapeutic. Jolie went on to say,

"I had ended up crying because I've just kind of was, like, it just got intense, like the questioning, and I was, for the first time, able to just put everything out on the floor and put everything, you know, allow everybody to see me in a vulnerable state. And so I felt really good after it, though. It was one of my most intense. I think, I think I really love talking to myself too. It was just like, really, I was just really able to express myself fully without feeling like, feeling like I got to answer the question correctly or right, you know, I just was able to just talk to myself. "
