The newly released LP by Jenny Gillespie Mason has grabbed our attention. With her soothing vocals and present atmosphere, it creates a full listening experience. Listening to In The Safety of the Light feels like wandering through green fields and clear skies just as her promotional photos and videos.

The Perfect Length
This is Mason’s first solo Album release apart from her band Sis and within 8 songs, she managed to leave a meaningful impression through her musicality. The detailed and varied instrumentation and the background sounds and vocals created an atmosphere that grabbed us with ease. Her lyricism paints her songs with intention. The 8 track album was a perfect 31 minute escape as the feelings of serenity filled our ears.
“Medicine of Light” and “Touch Everyone on Earth”
While all the tracks were enjoyable and together formed the cohesive project, our favorite songs were “Medicine of Light” and “Touch Everyone on Earth.” Both songs are singles of this album and were perfectly chosen to represent the project. “Medicine of Light” sits under 5 minutes and sinks into listeners' ears as soon as Jenny’s voice reveals itself. “Touch Everyone on Earth” is a track filled with hope and tranquility that can resonate with many.
Jenny Gillespie Mason’s switch to Folk music after years of releasing pop/jazz/electronic music is something to applaud. We enjoy listening to artists who have a vision and go after it, when it is truthful to their journey it is noticeable. From what we can see and hear this path and return to Folk music is one filled with sincerity and exploration of a genre she appreciates. We hope that In The Safety of the Light reaches the listeners that will appreciate and benefit from this project.
