Return of Radio-Rock Royalty

Fuel gained attention in the late 1990s with their melodic radio-rock sound and emotional lyrics that resonated with fans. They landed on the Billboard chart for their early singles multiple times, and their debut, Sunburn, was certified platinum, and Something Like Human was certified double-platinum. With multiple lineup changes, including recruiting NBC’s The Voice contestant Aaron Scott as a lead vocalist, Fuel has remained one of the most beloved bands of the 90s and 00s.

Fuel Injection

“Want It” is a heavy alternative metal-inspired track that is reminiscent of Fuel’s earlier work, but maintains the melodic break that made Fuel one of the most recognizable alternative bands. “Want It” is the first single Scott shared with the group, with founding member, guitarist, and songwriter Carl Bell saying, “He delivered an actual, tangible song idea, and we began shaping it from there. It’s been so refreshing to have someone so proactive in our corner. We have more synergy as a band now than we ever have, and that truly pushed this record into existence.”

“Want It” takes the listener on a ride, starting at daredevil speeds with a thunderous wall of sound that immediately barrages the listener with a steady drumbeat and a faint synth line that adds texture to the breaks. Scott’s vocals are powerful and controlled, matching the intensity and pulling back for the emotional delivery Fuel is known for.

“Want It” is a return to form that older fans will appreciate, and newer fans will enjoy, breathing new life into Fuel.

“Want It” sets the stage for Pendulum through lyrical themes of resilience and ambition, while using melodic rock as the foundation for Fuel's next era.
