Devon Again Introduces Herself to the World

Devon Again, the stage name of the rising country-pop artist Devon Johanningmeier, has hit the world stage after a 2020 TikTok video in which she freestyled over a polka beat and went viral. From there, label meetings became routine, and she eventually met with Cameron Hale, who helped produce Johanningmeier’s first hit, Suburbia. Now, four years later, Johanningmeier is supporting Olivia Rodrigo on tour and has released her latest music video, “Snake the Drain”, a fun grunge-tinted romp through the daily lives of some small-town characters.

Directed by Kaylin Duffy and published June 5, 2026, Love Don’t Snake the Drain” already has 148,524 views and over a thousand likes. The music video is highly stylized, following the money Devon Again earns from a scratcher as it is written on, ripped up, stepped on, used to ash a cigarette, and more. The song’s theme of words and actions not matching up is backed by visuals of different people finding loose money and their reactions, including an attempted robbery. The music video is fun, with a VHS-like color tone and pixelated look, giving it an analog feel with DIY roots. The track itself is a fun, upbeat country-pop song with tongue-in-cheek lyrics like “Words don’t make me come..home to the dishes done”. The slightly sexual undertones give the music video and the track a youthful feel, ending with a mud pit where the cast is covered in dirt and singing together, and a couple embraces. There is tenderness that runs through the video, as the track asks for more from their partner.
