Rose has been cited as a star on the rise by NME and featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered, and with a 2025 Glastonbury debut, Rose is hitting the tour circuit opening for Lorde at Edinburgh’s Highland Showgrounds in August; she is booked and busy.
Rose is currently playing throughout Europe supporting Lewis Capaldi, as well, bringing her emotional anthems to some of the biggest festivals of the summer. Rose’s latest full-length release, Voyeur, is available to stream on all platforms now, and “Dependent” is on YouTube now.

Alessi Rose, the latest pop star on the rise, has released their latest single, “Dependent,” off their new EP, Voyeur. Rose’s writing is emotional and evocative, taking listeners on a journey through the stress of communicating in a relationship when you want to get every word right, and the fear of rejection. With the music video’s soft-grunge-inspired visuals, it offers a beautiful set of visuals to match the delicacy of the story within the track.
“Dependent” has a slightly edgy sound with the pop-punk guitar riff that pushes the track forward, but remains delicate with the acoustic sound to express the longing in the lyrics. Rose’s realistic take on relationship anxiety is relatable and honest. The standout scene in the music video is Rose’s hands tied behind her back with pink ribbons, offering a symbolic look at the fragility of feelings and is reminiscent of the ribbon trend in the fashion world for the last few years.
In Rose’s own words describing the writing and meaning of “Dependent,” she said:
“When I love someone it often feels like it's life or death; like one wrong move and everything comes crashing down as if they are the single domino holding up every little piece of my life, and to have them fall would be catastrophe. I wrote this song at a point where I felt like I needed to be acting against my dependence. I wanted to isolate from everyone that holds me up just to prove that I could do it and be as independent as possible just to say that I am, even if it directly opposed what I wanted and needed at that moment.”
The single is infectious and is sure to be another hit in her discography.
